Fila X Melissa Collection
Fila is back at it once again with another collaboration and this time with shoe/sandal brand, Melissa. Here in the Philippines, Melissa is known for their "jelly" shoes or sandals which is basically made up of a very malleable plastic which makes the material not too stiff but still retains its shape as a shoe or sandal. Having a jelly-like or translucent appearance, women wear them because of it being lightweight and durable. Now, Fila takes the collaboration to a whole new level by incorporating that plastic source material molding them into some familiar silhouettes that will is very ideal to wear this summer. For footwear, they have lowtop sneakers, sandals, and a flipflop (not in photos) and I must say the execution is nice. The Fila design elements are still there so just from a quick glance, you can easily determine that that's a Fila shoe especially if you are very familiar with the brand. The sneakers have a drop-in midsole to provide cushion because it is just basically a plastic shell molded into a sneaker. But I'm really digging the sandal more in my opinion. It's summer here in the Philippines and a lot of times the heat is really a piece of work here so a footwear that is light and provides good airflow is a great ideal. These are available now at various Fila stores which retails for Php 4,999 with the photos below taken at the Fila store in Trinoma.
